Pumpkin Donut
Ingredients
For the dough
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon yeast
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup pumpkin puree
700 g all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pumpkin spice
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup sugar
½ cup of cinnamon
1 stick of melted butter
For the coating
Melted butter, for dipping
White sugar
Ground cinnamon, to mix with the sugar
Cinnamon sticks, for decorating
Instructions
1. Prepare the dough
In a large bowl, combine the milk, yeast, sugar, egg, vanilla extract, and pumpkin puree. Mix until well combined.
Add the pumpkin spice, flour, and salt. Mix until the ingredients begin to form a dough. Add the softened butter and mix again until everything is incorporated and a soft dough forms.
2. Let the dough rise
Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 3 hours, or until it has risen noticeably.
3. Shape the donuts
Divide the dough into portions weighing approximately 100 g each. Shape each portion into a pumpkin shape, following the technique shown in the video.
This recipe makes approximately 12–14 donuts.
4. Let the donuts rise again
Place the shaped donuts on a tray and cover them to prevent the dough from drying out. Let them rise for another hour, or until puffy.
5. Fry the donuts
Heat the oil to 360°F (182°C). Once the oil reaches the desired temperature, reduce the heat to medium and carefully add the donuts in batches.
Fry until golden brown, turning them as needed so they cook evenly. Remove the donuts and let the excess oil drain.
6. Coat and decorate
While the donuts are still warm, dip each one in melted butter.
In a separate bowl, mix the white sugar with ground cinnamon. Roll each butter-coated donut in the cinnamon sugar until evenly covered.
Finally, insert a small cinnamon stick into the top of each donut to create a pumpkin stem.
Enjoy!
Serve these adorable pumpkin-shaped donuts warm and enjoy their soft texture, pumpkin flavor, and sweet cinnamon-sugar coating!
